Niagara & Calgary Cultural Capitals of Canada

Wow! How very exciting that the world will discover our secret. We are a cultural hub twinned with Calgary, Alberta. The Canadian government is celebrating and promoting Canadian culture and we are so fortunate to be artists living and working in the Niagara Peninsula. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with Niagara regional representatives to discuss how this will impact the Pelham Summerfest Art Show and the artists of Pelham.

The Summerfest Art show is a juried professional art show and as a group of professional artists we enjoy mentoring and encouraging amateur artists to hone their skills through classes and workshops like those provided by the Pelham Art Association.

Mary Powley a local professional fine artist and president of the Pelham Art Association works very hard to find professional instructors for the classes & workshops offered by the club. This year we are very pleased that James Kerr a well known Niagara fine artist and retired Commercial Artist is our class instructor. James teaches Drawing, Watercolour and Acrylics. Once a month the association has a workshop and we hire professional fine artists from Canada and the US. At these workshops, you will find both amateur and professional artists woking side by side to develop new skill sets and techniques.

The Pelham Art Association will encourage it's members to participate in the All Call to artists that will be put out by the town of Pelham to actively participate in the Niagara Night of the Arts, Friday, July 20th 2012.
